Session #2 – Overview of Resource Planning and Assignment Planning

Dale will present an overview of basic techniques for resource planning, including how to set alternate Cost Rates and how to enter nonworking time such as vacation on a resource’s calendar. He will also present how to use the Task Entry view to assign resources to tasks, while maintaining complete control over all aspects of the Microsoft Project scheduling engine during the assignment process.

AND – Overview of Tracking and Variance Analysis
Dale will demonstrate several effective methodologies for tracking task progress. He will also demonstrate how to analyze Work, Cost, Date, and schedule variance in a Microsoft Project plan.

About Your Presenter
Dale Howard is Vice President of Educational Services of MSProjectExperts, serving as an EPM trainer and consultant. Dale possesses multiple technical certifications, including Certified Technical Trainer (CTT), Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS), Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP), and Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT). He is a noted author and speaker, known for his lively and engaging presentations.
Dale has nearly 20 years of experience training and consulting in productivity software. He has worked with Microsoft Project since 1997 and volunteers many hours each week answering user questions in the various Microsoft Project communities. Dale continues to receive the prestigious Most Valuable Professional (MVP) yearly award for Microsoft Project since 2004 for his expertise with the software and for his contributions to the user communities.
